Men's Golf in 19th Place After First Round of NCAA East Regional

Nashville, Tenn., May 19, 2005 - The Penn State men's golf team shot a 293 (+9) to finish in a tie for 19th place after the first round of the NCAA East Regional held at the Golf Club of Tennessee in Nashville, Tenn. Senior Ted Neville (Oklahoma City, Okla.) finished with a opening round score of 71 (E) to hold a tie for 35th place. Wake Forest leads the tournament after shooting a 273 (-11) followed by North Carolina and Georgia to round out the top three. Kyle Reifers of Wake Forest leads the field individually after firing a 65 (-6) and three players share a tie for second place. Freshman Robert Rohanna (Waynesburg, Pa.) grabbed a tie for 54th with a final score of 72 (+1) and sophomore Marco Poccia (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) took 79th place with a first round score of 74 (+3). Seniors Mark Leon (Brampton, Ontario) and Greg Pieczynski (Kingston, Pa.) shared a tie for 99th after both fired a final 76 (+5). Round two of the tournament will begin tomorrow at 7:12 a.m. with the Nittany Lions teeing off at noon.
