Nittany Lion Men's Golf Team Earns 15th Consecutive NCAA East Regional Berth
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., May 12, 2004 - The Penn State men's golf team has earned its 15th consecutive berth to the NCAA East Regional Championships. Coach Greg Nye's Nittany Lions are one of 27 squads selected to participate in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. The NCAA East Regional will be held May 20-22 at the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Conn. The East Regional is one of three regional competitions in the nation. The top 10 teams and two individuals will advance from each regional to the 2004 NCAA Championships, June 1-4 at the Cascades Golf Course, The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va. Penn State is the No. 19 seed in the 27-team East Regional field, which is led by No. 1 seed Florida. The Nittany Lions are one of six Big Ten squads to qualify for NCAA competition, with the remaining Conference teams participating in the Central Regional at Purdue. Penn State will compete in the Maxwell Intercollegiate this weekend in Ardmore, Okla. The Nittany Lions are coming off a sixth place finish at last weekend's Big Ten Championships.
