Men's Golf Falls to 10th Place After Two Rounds of the Big Ten Championships

Madison, Wisc., May 7, 2005 - The Penn State men's golf team fell to 10th place after two rounds of the Big Ten Championships held at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisc. today. Indiana University and Michigan State are tied for the lead after both squads shot a 558 (-18). Minnesota holds third place finishing with a two-round score of 568 (-8).

Senior Mark Leon (Brampton, Ontario) continued his solid performance taking fourth place individually with a 139 (-5). Senior Ted Neville (Oklahoma City, Okla.) took 22nd place with a two-round score of 146 (+2). Freshman Robert Rohanna (Waynesburg, Pa.) registered a 147 (+3)to take 32nd place while senior Greg Pieczynski (Kingston, Pa.) grabbed 51st place firing a 154 (+10).

Sophomore Marco Poccia (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) rounded out the top five golfers for the Nittany Lions with a two-round score of 155 (+11) for a 52nd place tie.

Jeff Overton of Indiana leads the field individually after shooting a 130 (-14) while Spartans Ryan Brehm and Matt Harmon hold the second and thrid spots. The third and final round of the tournament will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow morning. The Lions will then travel to the Perry Maxwell Intercollegiate held in Ardmore, Okla. on May 14 and 15.
