Men's Golf Shoots Second Best Third Round at Big Ten Championships
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - After struggling for two rounds, the Penn State men's golf team rebounded with one of the best third rounds scores at the Big Ten Championship in Iowa City. The Lions shot a score of 287, which tied Indiana for the second best third round of the tournament. After 54-holes of play the Nittany Lions still stand in 10th place with an overall score of 884. Purdue leads the Championships with a score of 861, while Illinois is two shots back at 863. Nittany Lion Mark Leon (Brampton, Ontario) shot a stellar third round score of 3-under 69, which catapulted him from 34th to tied for 12th. His round of 69 tied him for the best third round score of the tournament. With one round to play, Leon has a 54-hole score of 217 (+1), which is six shots behind the leader Eric Jorgenson of Michigan State (211). Jim Fuller (Muskogee, Okla.) and Josh Dawes (Jacksonville, Fla.) both improved their overall placing with solid third rounds of golf. Fuller stands tied for 27th with a score of 221, while Dawes is one shot back (222) and is tied for 31st. The final round will begin tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. (ET).
