Rohanna Ties for Fourth at 2007 Big Ten Championships
COLUMBUS, Ohio; April 29, 2007 ¨C Junior Robert Rohanna (Waynesburg, Pa.) tied for fourth place at 11-over par at the 2007 Big Ten Championships ¨C his fourth straight top-10 finish and 11th of his career. Rohanna shot rounds of 75-70-76-74 (295). Rohanna, the only player of the 55-player field to shoot under par in the second round, finished the tournament with 11 birdies. He improved on his 15th place finish at last year¡¯s Championships and finished ten shots behind the winner, Purdue¡¯s Pariya Junhasavasdikul. Junhasavasdikul, a 2006 All-Big Ten First Team selection, posted rounds of 69-72-73-71 (285) and finished at one-over par, beating the next best player by eight strokes. Penn State improved on its seventh place finish from last year by tying for sixth place with Indiana at +77. The Nittany Lions shot rounds of 301-306-303-303 (1213) and finished 21 shots behind co-champions Michigan State and Minnesota, ranked No. 26 and No. 29 in the nation by Golfweek, respectively. The 72-hole tournament, hosted by Ohio State, was held at the 7,454-yard, par-71 OSU Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. Sophomore Chad Bricker (Waynesboro, Pa.) tied for seventh place at 14-over par, easily his best finish of the spring. Bricker sunk eight birdies ¨C two in each round ¨C and shot rounds of 75-75-75-73 (298). His final round score of 73 was the fourth best round of the day. Freshman Kevin Foley (Somerville, N.J.) finished his first Big Ten Championships in 24th place at 22-over par after he fired rounds of 73-81-76-76 (306). Senior Marco Poccia (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) shot rounds of 78-80-76-83 (317) and finished in 51st place at 33-over par. Junior Harvin Groft (State College, Pa.) finished in 53rd place after posting rounds of 79-81-82-80 (322). The Nittany Lions will return home next weekend for their final tournament of the spring. Penn State hosts the 31st annual Rutherford Intercollegiate, a 54-hole event, on May 5-6 at the 7,228-yard, par-72 Blue Course in State College, Pa.
