STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Senior Andy Latowski was named the Co-Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week for his performance last weekend. Latowski shared the honors with Jeff Overton of Indiana, who along with Latowski placed second at the First Energy Intercollegiate in Akron, Ohio.

Latowski shot three consistent rounds of 71-70-71 for a total score of 212 (-4). His score is the fifth best mark for 54-holes in school history and gave the senior his third top ten finish of the spring and fourth of the 2001-2002 season.

Penn State, led by Latowski, finished second overall after losing a tough one-hole playoff to Toledo. Both schools finished the three rounds of competition with scores of 869.

The Nittany Lions have now won or shared the award two weeks in a row as senior Josh Dawes (Jacksonville, Fla.) received Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors last week.

The Nittany Lions will be in action this weekend when they host the 26th Rutherford Intercollegiate on Penn State's Blue Course. The first two rounds will take place on Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 a.m. The final round will begin at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, April 28.

A Memorial tree dedication for the late Michael Carter will take place Friday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. on the 18th hole near the Penn State clubhouse.
