State College, Pa. (April 22) - At the end of the first round of the Rutherford Intercollegiate, the Penn State men¡¯s golf team is tied for 11th place out of 15 teams. The tournament, held at Penn State¡¯s Rutherford Course will conclude Sunday. Play was slow the entire round due to steady rainfall.

Miami (Ohio) leads the field after shooting a 9-over-par 297. Penn State, last year¡¯s winner, shot a team score of 317 (+29). Eastern Michigan¡¯s Korey Mahoney shot a 4-under-par 68 to end the first round in first place. Penn State¡¯s Patrick Marshalek is tied for 2nd after shooting a 71 (-1).

For Penn State, Matt Leon shot a 77 (+5), Greg Pieczynski shot a 79 (+7), John Aubrey shot a 79 (+7), Marco Poccia shot 80 (+8), Robert Rohanna and Harvin Groft tied for 57th with 82s (+10), Andrew Price shot an 83 (+11) and Mitch Van Zelfden shot an 86 (+14).
