Men's Golf Finishes Sixth in 14-Team Field at Marshall Invitational
Huntington, WV, April 11, 2004 - The Penn State Men's Golf team fired a three-round score of 875 (296-291-288) to finish in sixth place among the 14 teams competing at the Marshall Invitational over the weekend. Mark Leon (Brampton, Ontario; 73-73-71) and Marco Poccia (Saratoga Springs, NY; 75-72-20) each shot a 217 (good for a tie for 12th place) to lead Penn State, as the Nittany Lions finished 28 shots back of tournament-winner Ohio State. Greg Pieczynski (Kingston, Pa.) shot a 71-78-71=221 to finish in 28th place, while Ted Neville (Oklahoma City, OK; 77-73-76=226) and Jason Pannone (East Greenwich, RI; 77-73-77=227) finished in respective ties for 44th and 48th place for Penn State. Ohio State fired an 847 to capture the Tournament crown, with Xavier (856), host Marshall (856), Eastern Kentucky (867) and Ball State (871) rounding out the top five. Penn State will travel to Ohio State next weekend for the Kepler Intercollegiate (April 17th and 18th).
