Penhook, Va. --The Penn State men's golf team sits in first place out of 11 teams after the first round of the Liberty Ramada Classic at the Water's Edge Golf Course in Penhook, Va. The Nittany Lions shot an impressive 282 in the first round to hold a seven stroke advantage over the University of Richmond. Four of Penn State's five golfers finished in the top ten of round one. Andy Latowski (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Jeff Turton (Ithaca, N.Y.) led the way for the Lions with rounds of 69 and share of first place in the individual competition. Matt Abbott (Endwell, N.Y.) sits in fourth place with a round of 71. Josh Dawes (Jacksonville, Fla.) earned a share of 10th place after shooting a score of 73. Jim Fuller (Muskogee, Okla.) rounded out the lineup for Penn State with a score of 74 and a share of 17th place. The 72 hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday, April 10th with action set to begin at 8:00 a.m.
