Men's Golf Finishes in a Tie For 16th Place at the Hall of Fame Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., March 20, 2005 - The Penn State men's golf team finished in a 16th place tie with the University of Houston at the Hall of Fame Invitational held at Redstone Golf Club in Humble, Texas. The Nittany Lions shot a 301 in the third round to finish with a final score of 904 (+40).

Oklahoma State held on to the lead after the first to rounds to claim first place firing an 846 (-18) followed by UNLV (-16) and New Mexico (+1). Senior Ted Neville (Oklahoma City, Okla.) led the Lions individually shooting a 225 (+9) to finish in a tie for 52nd. Freshman Robert Rohanna (Waynesburg, Pa.) shot a single-round high (74) in the third round to take a 68th place tie with a final score of 227 (+11). Senior Mark Leon (Brampton, Ontario) finished the invitational with a score of 228 (+12) and junior Greg Pieczynski (Kingston, Pa.) and sophomore Marco Poccia (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) both ended the tournament with a 232 (+16) in a tie for 80th.

Ryan Moore of UNLV took first place individually shooting a 206 (-10). Tyler Leon of Oklahoma State finished in second place with a final 207 (-9) and Andres Gonzales of UNLV finished in the third spot after firing a 208 (-8).

Penn State will travel to Tempe, Ariz. to partake in the ASU Thunderbird on April 8. The Lions will then participate in the First Energy Intercollegiate on April 16.
