Men's Golfers Open Spring Competition Slate

Orlando, Fla., March 5, 2006 - The Penn State men's golf team opened its spring competition schedule posting 14th place finish Sunday at the Xavier Invitational held at the Orange County National Golf Course in Orlando, Fla. Penn State carded a three round total of 894 (+30 over par) in the 15-team event.

The Nittany Lions, in their 14th season under head coach Greg Nye, posted their best round with a score of 290 in Sunday's final round. Lamar University won the event posting an opening round 271 and carding a three-round total of 833 (-31 under par).

Penn State was led by sophomore Robert Rohanna who carded a three-round total of 217 (70-77-70) to finish tied for 23rd and one over on the par-72 course. Eastern Michigan's Graham Hill won the event carding an eight under par 208 (73-70-65). Freshman Chad Bricker finished 55th with a 226 (82-74-70). Senior Greg Pieczynski and junior John Aubrey tied for 68th with 229's Pieczynski shooting 79-74-76 and Aubrey 78-74-77. Senior Marco Poccia was 71st with a 230 (78-78-74).
