Foley Holds Strong in Top Five, After Second Round of Brickyard Collegiate Championship

Macon, Ga. - In the toughest field of the season, Penn State senior Kevin Foley (Somerville, N.J.) continued to hold strong to a top five position in the second round of the Brickyard Collegiate Golf Championship. Foley shot even par, 72, to grip a five-way tie for fifth place. In combination with his first round score of 69, Foley sits at 3-under-par, 10 strokes back from tournament leader, Russell Henley (76) of Georgia. Henley fired a 2009 Brickyard tournament-low of 65, to finish at 13-under-par.
The Nittany Lions currently sit in 14th place, with a second round score of 300. In conjunction with their first round, 296, they have a two-day total of 596. Augusta State (21) leads the 15-team field by 13 strokes, carding rounds of 282-281 (563).
Senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) sits at 5-over-par heading into the final 18, after firing two birdies on the day, finishing at 1-over-par. Howe's two-day scorecard reads 76-73 (149), placing him tied for 47th. Fellow senior, Jim Markovitz (Bridgeville, Pa.) finished at 8-over-par heading into tomorrow with rounds of 75-77 (152). Freshman Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) sits tied for 68th after rounds of 76-78 (154). Junior Tommy McDonagh (Wilton, Conn.) wrapped up the day for the Nittany Lions, improving from his first round score by six strokes. McDonagh has rounds of 85-79 (164).
