DURHAM, N.C. -- The Penn State men’s golf team sits in sixth place at 1-under after two rounds at the Rod Myers Invitational, hosted by Duke. The Nittany Lions completed rounds one and two, improving from seventh place (2-over, 290) earlier in the day. The second round saw Penn State with a 3-under 285 total to move up a spot.
The final round tees off Sunday at 8:00 a.m. with Penn State beginning play at 8:20 a.m. Live scoring is available here.
Penn State was led on Saturday by junior Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) who fired a bogey-free opening round of 5-under 67 to put him in the individual lead. In round two, Huntzinger shot a 1-over 73 and sits at 4-under for the tournament. He is in a tie for sixth place individually.
Senior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) started his day with a 3-over 75 and quickly bounced back in round two. He birdied three of his first five holes and shot 2-under 70. Miller is 1-over for the tournament and is tied for 26th individually. Sophomore Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) rounded out the top three for Penn State with a 5-over 77 in round one, carded a team-low 2-under 69 in round two, and is 3-over for the tournament.
Wake Forest is the current leader shooting a team total of 18-under par. Oregon is six strokes behind at 12-under and Vanderbilt is in third at 11-under.
