Miller Finishes Tied for Sixth, Nittany Lion Men's Golf Finishes 12th

ZIONSVILLE, IN. - The Penn State men's golf team wrapped up its first fall-season tournament Sunday, finishing in 12th place at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. The Nittany Lions shot 298 in the final round, their best round of the weekend. The team recorded a tournament total of 899 (299-302-298).
Freshman Michael Miller (Brewster, N.Y.) finished on top for Penn State throughout the tournament, ending tied for sixth. Miller carded a three-round total of 217 (70-75-72).
" Mike Miller had an outstanding opening event. It is a tough golf course and he met the challenge. He shot three of only five rounds that were competitive for us in this event," said head coach Greg Nye.
The University of Illinois held strong to their first place spot during the final round. The team posted rounds of 290-288-281 (859) to trump second place UCF by 19 shots and take the title for the second consecutive year.
Senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) made a comeback from yesterday, shooting a one-under par final round. Howe finished tied for 32 with rounds of 77-78-70 (225). Junior John Burke (Bay Village, Ohio) shot 78 -71-78 finishing the weekend 14-over par, tied for 44. Senior Tommy McDonagh (East Norwalk, Conn.) concluded the tournament tied for 66 carding in with 76-78-78 (232). Senior Jason Cohan (Wayne, Pa.) placed 77 with a tournament total of 239 (76-83-80).
