Penn State Men's Golf Team Sits in 10th With One Round Remaining

Galloway, N.J. - With the conclusion of the second round of the Northeast Regionals the Penn State men's golf team sits in 10th place on the leader board. The Nittany Lions improved their score by 18 strokes finishing the day at 17-over par, 52-over par for the tournament. The Nittany Lions are sitting 37 strokes behind tournament leader, Tennessee, which shot a three-over par second day round, finishing at 15-over par.
Rated No. 20 in the country, junior Kevin Foley (Sommerville, N.J.) improved his score by 11 strokes, carding an extraordinary 71, even par. Foley currently sits tied for 32nd, a 23 place jump from his first round position. Following close behind is junior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.), who currently stands tied for 36th. Howe has carded back-to-back rounds of 77 to finish at 12-over par. Freshmen Nick Archambault (QC, Canada) bettered his score by three strokes to finish the day at 76. Archambault currently stands at 13-over par, tied for 42nd.
Junior Jim Markovitz (Bridgeville, Pa.) and senior Chad Bricker (Waynesboro, Pa.) both improved their scores heading into the third and final round of the tournament. Markovitz shot a six-over par 77, finishing up 36 holes at 16-over par. Bricker shot five strokes better than his first round for a 77 finish on the day and a two-day total at 17-over par. Four out of the five Nittany Lions improved their scores by at least four strokes, with the fifth Lion staying consistent with his scores from both rounds.
Ken State's John Hahn jumped Tennessee's Darren Renwick for the first place spot heading into the third and final round of the tournament. Hahn sits at even par after carding a tournament low, 67 to jump 14 spots from yesterday's play. Dan Woltman of Wisconsin is currently tied for second with Renwick at one-over par.
