    • Penn State is 50-13 (79.3) since the start of the 2005 season, the nation's No. 8 winning percentage over that span.
    • Penn State earned its 21st season with at least 10 wins under Joe Paterno, who is the FBS all-time leader in 10-win seasons. Bobby Bowden is second with 18, followed by Tom Osborne (15) and Bear Bryant (14).
    • Penn State has back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time since 1993 (10-2) and 1994 (12-0).
    • The Nittany Lions recorded their second 4-0 Big Ten road record in Big Ten play (1994).
    • Penn State is 8-1 on the road the last two years. BIG TEN LEADER IN BOWLS
    • Penn State leads all Big Ten schools in bowl victories, appearances and winning percentage. The Nittany Lions have a 26-13-2 record in bowl games and their winning percentage of 65.8 is third in the nation among schools with a minimum of 10 bowl wins. Penn State also is third nationally in bowl wins, while its 41 bowl appearances are eighth-best.
    Paterno All-Time Wins Leader
    • Joe Paterno is the all-time wins leader among Football Bowl Subdivision college coaches, owning a career record of 393-129-3 (75.1) in his 44th season. He is in his 60th season on the Penn State coaching staff. Florida State coach Bobby Bowden is second with a 388-129-4 mark (74.8), also in his 44th season.

    Paterno All-Time Leader in Bowl Wins

    • Joe Paterno owns a post-season record of 23-11-1, a winning percentage of 67.14, including a 16-7 mark in New Year's bowl games. Paterno is the all-time leader in bowl wins and appearances (35) and his winning percentage is third-best all-time among coaches with at least 12 bowl appearances. He trails only Bobby Dodd (69.2, 9-4) and Bobby Bowden (67.18, 21-10-1).

    Offense Notes

    • Penn State did not have any turnovers in four of the last six games.
    • The Nittany Lions had four games with 500 or more yards of offense, including 512 yards in the regular season finale at Michigan State.
    • Penn State leads the Big Ten in total offense (412.5 ypg) and is No. 2 in scoring (29.7 ppg).
    • Penn State is the only Big Ten team ranked in the top five of the conference's four primary statistical categories: total (412.5 ypg), scoring (29.7 ppg), rushing (173.6 ypg) and passing offense (238.9 ypg).
    • Penn State had 57 plays of 20 yards or more from scrimmage, with 15 going for touchdowns. The Lions had a season-high 10 long plays at Michigan State, with four going for touchdowns.
    • Penn State has 13 scoring drives under 1:00 in duration (all touchdowns).

    Defense Notes

    • Penn State is the only team in the nation ranked in the Top 20 of the primary six defensive categories (Top 10 in five categories).
    • Penn State is ranked in the Top 20 nationally and top 3 in the Big Ten in all six primary defensive categories, through games of Dec. 5. The Nittany Lions lead the conference in scoring defense (4th in NCAA, 11.8 ppg), tackles for losses (6th, 8.25) and sacks (T 8th, 2.9), are second in the Big Ten in total (8th, 281.3 ypg) and rushing defense (10th, 93.9 ypg) and third in pass defense (19th, 183.2 ypg.
    • Penn State has not allowed a 100-yard rusher the last 15 games, the nation's third-longest streak.
    • The Nittany Lions held seven opponents to less than 100 rushing yards.
    • The Nittany Lions held eight opponents to 14 points or less this season.
    • Penn State has allowed just five first half touchdowns this season when Michigan State. Penn State has a 187-61 scoring advantage in the first half this year.
    • The Nittany Lions lead the nation in red zone defense (65.4 pct., 17 of 26 - 10 TD, 7 FG).

    Non-Conference Success

    • Penn State has a 60-12 (83.3) record in non-conference games overall since starting Big Ten play in 1993.
    Six Lions Earn First Team All-Big Ten Honors
    • The Nittany Lions had a conference-high six first team All-Big Ten selections and nine choices overall, along with Iowa. Jared Odrick was selected the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Lineman of the Year. He is the first interior lineman to earn the conference's top defensive honor since Dan Wilkinson of Ohio State in 1993. Odrick earned first team All-Big Ten accolades for the second consecutive year, as did senior quarterback Daryll Clark (Youngstown, Ohio) and junior linebacker Navorro Bowman (District Heights, Md.). Clark is just the 12th Big Ten player to be selected the first team all-conference quarterback more than once. Senior tackle Dennis Landolt (Burlington, N.J.), junior tailback Evan Royster (Fairfax, Va,) and junior center Stefen Wisniewski (Bridgeville) also earned first team All-Big Ten accolades.

    • Penn State's second team all-conference selections were senior punter Jeremy Boone (Mechanicsburg), senior linebacker Josh Hull (Millheim) and senior linebacker Sean Lee (Pittsburgh).

    Nation's Leader in Academic All-Americans in 2008 and 2009

    • For the second consecutive year, Penn State led all Football Bowl Subdivision teams in ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America selections.

    • Three Nittany Lions repeated their Academic All-America® accolades on the 2009 team: senior linebacker Josh Hull (Millheim), senior kick snapper Andrew Pitz (Bettendorf, Iowa) and junior center Stefen Wisniewski (Bridgeville). Hull and Pitz were 2008 first team honorees and Wisniewski was a second team selection last year.

    Best Graduation Rate Among AP Top 25

    • The Penn State football team had the highest federal graduation rate among teams ranked in the Nov. 29 Associated Press Top 25 poll, according to data released in November by the NCAA. Penn State football student-athletes that enrolled in the University in the fall of 2002 earned a federal graduation rate of 89 percent, easily the best among the teams ranked in the November 22 AP poll. Stanford was second at 88 percent and Alabama and Miami (Fla). were tied for third at 75 percent.

    • Penn State's 89 percent federal graduation rate led all Big Ten Conference institutions and was 34 points above the 55 percent FBS average, according to the NCAA.

    • The Nittany Lions were second among AP Top 25 teams (Nov. 29) with a program record 85 percent Graduation Success Rate. The figure was based on Penn State football student-athletes entering the University in the fall of 1999 through 2002. Stanford was first at 89 percent.

    Daryll Clark

    • Daryll Clark was selected first team All-Big Ten in 2008 and '09. He is just the 12th player to be named the first team All-Big Ten quarterback more than once.
    • Daryll Clark is 21-4 as the Nittany Lions' starting quarterback.
    • Daryll Clark was the Big Ten's pass efficiency leader with a 145.67 rating.
    • Daryll Clark led the Big Ten with 23 touchdown passes.
    • Daryll Clark is the only Big Ten quarterback ranked in the top four of the primary three categories (pass efficiency, 1st, 145.67; total offense, 3rd, 248.2 ypg; passing yardage, 4th, 232, ypg).
    • Daryll Clark was 19 of 27 (70.4) for 310 yards, with 4 TD and 0 Interceptions in the 42-14 win at Michigan State to end the regular season. The 310 yards were third-highest in his career (353 vs. Akron '09; 341 vs. MSU '08).
    • Daryll Clark was selected Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week three times this season, the most of any player this season. He has five career conference accolades.
    • For the season, Daryll Clark is 214 of 346 (61.8) for 2,787 yards, with 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also has rushed for 191 yards and seven touchdowns.
    • Daryll Clark broke Penn State record for career touchdown passes with 42.
    • Clark broke the Penn State mark for TD passes in a single season with 23.
    • Clark broke the Penn State season record for passing yardage with 2,787 yards.
    • Clark threw a career-high four TD passes vs. Michigan State for the second consecutive year. He threw scoring strikes of 29, 30, 32, and 27 yards. He also threw four TD passes at Michigan on Oct. 24.
    • Penn State is 12-1 when Daryll Clark throws for more than 200 yards.
    • Clark broke his own school record for season touchdowns responsible for with 30 (23 passing, 7 rushing). Clark's 64 career TD responsible for are a PSU record.
    • Clark's 2,978 yards of total offense this season rank No. 2 in Penn State records books. Michael Robinson's 3,156 yards in 2005 are first.
    • Clark's 6,125 career yards of total offense rank No. 2 in Penn State records books, passing Tony Sacca (6,000) vs. the Spartans. Zack Mills (7,796) is first.

    Evan Royster

    • Evan Royster's 5.9 average on 188 carries is best in the Big Ten among rushers with at least 90 carries.
    • Royster is No. 2 in the Big Ten in rushing (92.0 ypg) and No. 3 in all-purpose yards (108.2 ypg).
    • Evan Royster eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the second consecutive season with a 22-yard run on Penn State's opening drive against Michigan State. He is the seventh Nittany Lion to record multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
    • Evan Royster has 1,104 yards this season, good for No. 13 on the school season list.
    • Royster is in eighth place in Penn State career rushing yardage with 2,853 yards. Lydell Mitchell ranks seventh with 2,934 yards.
    • Royster earned his 12th career 100-yard rushing game of his career and sixth this season with his 114 yards vs. Michigan State. The Nittany Lions are 12-0 when Royster gains 100 yards. LINEBACKER U
    • Penn State has three of the Big Ten's top seven tacklers: Josh Hull (4th, 9.2 avg.), Sean Lee (No. 6, 8.9 avg.) and Navorro Bowman (No. 7, 8.4 avg.). Lee and Bowman both missed three games earlier in the season with injuries.
    • Navorro Bowman is No. 2 among all linebackers nationally in TFL with a 1.55 average. He is No. 10 nationally in TFL according to the Nov. 28 NCAA statistics.
    • Navorro Bowman recorded 10 tackles (seven solo), with 3.5 TFL (minus-17), a sack and a pass break-up vs. Michigan State He posted his ninth career double figure tackle game.
    • Navorro Bowman tied a team season-high for TFLs in a game with 3.5 vs. the Spartans.
    • Navorro Bowman was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week the last two weeks of the season, one of only two players to earn the conference honor twice this season.
    • Bowman leads the team with 15.5 TFL (minus-55) despite missing 2 ¾ games with an injury.
    • Sean Lee made seven tackles to move into fourth place in school career tackles with 319, passing Brian Gelzheiser (315). He also had a TFL and grabbed his third career interception. -Josh Hull leads the team with 110 tackles, good for No. 4 in the Big Ten.

    Notes from 42-14 Win at Michigan State

    • Penn State leads the series with Michigan State, 14-12-1, including a 13-4 mark in Big Ten play.
    • The Lions and Spartans have combined to score 1,060 points in their 17 conference games, an average of 62.3 points per game. Penn State has scored 608 points (35.7 avg.) and Michigan State has scored 452 points (26.6 avg.).
    • Penn State's 28 points in the third quarter vs. MSU tied a high for scoring in a quarter this season, equaling its second quarter output versus Eastern Illinois. The 28 points are its highest total for single quarter vs. an FBS foes since scoring 31 in the second quarter versus Temple in 2008.
    • Andrew Quarless set a career high in receiving touchdowns in a season with three with his twoscore performance versus Michigan State. He also tied a single game high in touchdowns (vs. Buffalo, 2007). Quarless has eight career touchdown receptions.
    • Nick Sukay's interception of Kirk Cousins in the third quarter was his second this season and of his career.
    • Joe Suhey's 30-yard touchdown reception was the first of his career and a career-long catch.
    • Freshman Stephon Morris started at right cornerback, becoming the 19th Nittany Lion this season to earn his first career start. Morris made five tackles to tie his season-high.
