Rose Bowl Tickets on Sale Wednesday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; December 1, 2008 - Current Nittany Lion Club members will be able to purchase tickets for Penn State's third appearance in the Rose Bowl beginning Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The Nittany Lions will likely face No. 5 USC or Oregon State in the 95th Rose Bowl. The game is Thursday, January 1, 2009 and will kick at 2:00 p.m. PT. The contest will air on ABC and the Penn State Sports Network. Tickets will be available online only at www.GoPSUsports.com/tickets this Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. In order to purchase tickets online, buyers will need to have their account number and password. Nittany Lion Club members can also purchase tickets by phone starting Monday, Dec. 8 at 10:00 a.m. by calling (814) 865-5555. The deadline for all online and phone orders is Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 6:00 p.m. Advanced parking for the game can be ordered when purchasing tickets. The maximum number of tickets someone can purchase will be determined by 2008 Nittany Lion Club point totals and will be reflected online during the purchase process. If demand for tickets exceeds the available supply, Nittany Lion Club point totals will be used to determine the allocation. Tickets will be mailed to the account holder address the week of December 15. Should tickets remain after the Nittany Lion Club sale, current season ticket holders who are not members of the Nittany Lion Club, as well as the general public, can purchase Rose Bowl tickets over the phone starting Thursday, Dec. 11 at 10:00 a.m. by calling (814) 865-5555. There will be a limit of two (2) tickets per person for non-NLC members. These ticket purchases will also be mailed the week of December 15. Rose Bowl tickets are $145 each, and have a $15 handling fee, for a total of $160 per ticket. Information on the student ticket sale for the Rose Bowl will be distributed later this week on www.GoPSUsports.com, the official website of Penn State Athletics. Penn State will be making its 41st bowl appearance all-time. The Nittany Lions are No. 3 in the nation with 26 post-season victories and second nationally in bowl winning percentage (67.5, 26-12-2) among schools with at least 10 bowl wins. Coach Joe Paterno is the all-time leader in bowl appearances (35th) and bowl victories (23-10-1 record). Penn State will be making its third appearance in the Rose Bowl. The Nittany Lions lost to USC, 14-3, in the 1923 Rose Bowl and defeated Oregon, 38-20, in the 1995 Rose Bowl to become the first Big Ten Conference team to post a 12-0 record. |
