STATE COLLEGE, Pa., November 11, 2002 - ABC Sports will televise Penn State's regular season finale with Michigan State on Saturday, November 23 to a regional audience. Kickoff has been set for 3:30 p.m. ET in Beaver Stadium.
In addition, Penn State's final road game of the season, at Indiana on Saturday, will air on ESPN2 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The contest was originally scheduled to air on ESPN.
The telecast of the Senior Day clash with the Spartans is the 12th announced TV appearance of the season for the No. 16 Nittany Lions, who are 7-3 overall and 3-3 in the Big Ten following Saturday's 35-14 win over Virginia. Penn State has appeared on television in 101 of its last 102 games, including the last 67 contests.
The Lions will be making their sixth appearance of the season on ABC against the Spartans. Penn State's contests against Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State and Virginia also were on ABC. The Lions will make their second appearance of the season on ESPN2 against the Hoosiers. Penn State has appeared on ESPN against UCF, Iowa and Illinois, the win over Northwestern aired on ESPN2 and the victory over Louisiana Tech was an ESPN Regional telecast.
The Nittany Lions and Spartans will be playing for the Land Grant Trophy for the 10th time. Penn State rallied to defeat Michigan State, 42-37, last season, but the Spartans lead the series, 10-8-1. The Lions are 7-2 vs. MSU since starting Big Ten play in 1993, including a 4-0 mark in Beaver Stadium.
Michigan State (4-6, 2-4) hosts Purdue on Saturday.
Among the Penn State seniors who will be playing their final game in Beaver Stadium against Michigan State are: Anthony Adams, Gus Felder, Michael Haynes, Joe Iorio, Bryant Johnson, Larry Johnson, Jimmy Kennedy, Tyler Lenda, Shawn Mayer, David Royer, Matt Schmitt and Bryan Scott.
A limited number of tickets, returned by Michigan State, remain for the contest with the Spartans.
