"Rally In The Valley" Set for Friday Night In Rec Hall;
Student White Out Declared for Ohio State Clash

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., - The Blue & White Society and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics are teaming up to host the traditional "Rally in the Valley" football pep rally at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26 in Rec Hall in anticipation of Saturday's showdown between No. 24 Penn State and No. 1 Ohio State.

In addition, the clash against the Buckeyes has been declared a Student White Out for the enthusiastic and vociferous Penn State student section of 21,000 strong.

Head coach Joe Paterno, the Nittany Lion football team, the Penn State cheerleaders, Lionettes dance team, the Blue Band, and the Nittany Lion mascot will all participate in the pep rally and help ready students, alumni and friends for the next day's football game, as Penn State hosts the nation's No. 1 team for the first time since 1989.

T-shirts and prizes will be given away at the pep rally courtesy of the Penn State Bookstore and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics. The Bus (93.7 FM) radio station is the media sponsor for Rally in the Valley.

The Penn State faithful will be pumped up and primed at the "Rally in the Valley" in anticipation of the widely anticipated and soldout game against top-rated Ohio State. The series with Ohio State is tied, 11-11. The Nittany Lions will be facing the Buckeyes in a contest that begins at 8 p.m. and will be televised to a national audience by ABC. The Penn State Sports Network will broadcast the game, which can also be heard at http://www.GoPSUsports.com, the official website of Penn State Athletics.

Several Penn State teams will be competing at home this weekend in addition to the battle at Beaver Stadium. On Friday, the Nittany Lion field hockey team hosts Ohio State at 6:00 p.m. on the AstroTurf Field in a contest that will be televised by the Big Ten Network. The women's soccer team hosts Purdue at 7:00 p.m. at Jeffrey Field. In addition, the men's volleyball team will face Southern California in a pair of exhibition matches Friday at 1:00 and 5:30 p.m. in Rec Hall.

 

 

On Saturday at 4:00 p.m., the Nittany Lion Basketball Team will hold its Blue-White Game in the Bryce Jordan Center. There is no admission fee and doors to the Jordan Center will open at 3:00 p.m. On Sunday, the women's soccer team hosts Indiana at 1:00 p.m. at Jeffrey Field.
