Nittany Lions in the NFL – Week Six

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - A total of 28 Penn State football alumni are populating the rosters of 21 National Football League teams. The Nittany Lions annually are among the top 20 programs nationally in producing players in the NFL. Each week throughout the year, GoPSUsports.com has provided updates on the exploits of these former Nittany Lion greats.

Former Penn State defensive backs shined in Week 6 of the NFL season as Bears safety Adrian Amos and Chargers cornerback Trevor Williams both grabbed their first career interceptions, with Amos returning his 90 yards for a touchdown. Navorro Bowman was out of action last weekend, as he was released by the 49ers on Friday, but he will remain in the Bay Area as he signed with the Raiders Monday.

Adrian Amos (2011-14) FS, Chicago Bears
Bears 27, Ravens 24
Amos started at safety for the Bears and had a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. He also posted his third consecutive game with eight tackles, including one for a loss.

Brandon Bell (2013-16) LB, Cincinnati Bengals
Bye Week
Bell is on the Bengals practice squad.

Navorro Bowman (2007-09) LB, Oakland Raiders
Bowman was released by the 49ers Friday after seven seasons with the team that drafted him, but he signed with the Raiders Monday.

Carter is on the Vikings practice squad.

Jack Crawford (2008-11) DE, Atlanta Falcons
Dolphins 20, Falcons 17
Crawford is on injured reserve with a torn bicep.

Garry Gilliam (2010-12) T, San Francisco 49ers
Redskins 26, 49ers 24
Gilliam saw limited action on offense and special teams against the Redskins.

Chris Godwin (2014-16) WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cardinals 38, Buccaneers 33
Godwin had one catch for nine yards against the Cardinals. He also saw extensive action on special teams.

Robbie Gould (2001-04) K, San Francisco 49ers
Redskins 26, 49ers 24
Gould converted a 52-yard field goal and all three extra points against the Redskins. Gould’s 52-yard field goal was his longest of the season.

Christian Hackenberg (2013-15) QB, New York Jets
Patriots 24, Jets 17
Hackenberg was inactive this week.

Tamba Hali (2002-05) LB, Kansas City Chiefs 
Steelers 19. Chiefs 13
Hali is on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list.

Jordan Hill (2009-12) DT, Detroit Lions
Saints 52, Lions 38
Hill is on injured reserve with a biscep injury.

Chris Hogan (men's lacrosse - 2007-10) WR, New England Patriots
Patriots 24, Jets 17
Hogan started for the Patriots and had one catch for 19 yards against the Jets.

Mike Hull (2011-14) LB, Miami Dolphins
Dolphins 20, Falcons 17
Hull played on special teams against the Falcons.

Jesse James (2012-14) TE, Pittsburgh Steelers
Steelers 19, Chiefs 13
James started at tight end for the Steelers in the win over the Chiefs.

DaQuan Jones (2010-13) DE, Tennessee Titans 
Titans 36, Colts 22
Jones made his 39th consecutive regular season start at defensive end for the Titans and had two solo tackles.

Austin Johnson (2012-15) DT, Tennessee Titans 
Titans 36, Colts 22
Johnson had one tackle against the Colts.

Lucas saw action against the Falcons on special teams.

Carl Nassib (2011-15) DE, Cleveland Browns

Nassib started at defensive end for the Browns and had three tackles and a quarterback hit against the Texans.

Paul Posluszny (2003-06) LB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Rams 27, Jaguars 17
Posluszny started at middle linebacker against the Rams.

Allen Robinson (2011-13) WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Rams 27, Jaguars 17
Robinson is on injured reserve with an ACL injury to his left knee.

Evan Schwan (2013-16) DE, New York Giants
Giants 23, Broncos 10
Schwan is on injured reserve with a broken foot.

A.Q. Shipley (2005-08) C, Arizona Cardinals 
Cardinals 38, Buccaneers 33
Shipley started at center for the Cardinals, making his 21st consecutive start, and helped pave the way for Carson Palmer to throw for 283 yards and three touchdowns and new addition, Adrian Peterson, to rush for 134 yards and two touchdowns in the victory over the Buccaneers.

Donovan Smith (2012-13) OT, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cardinals 38, Buccaneers 33
Smith started at left tackle and played every snap. He has started all 37 games of his NFL career.

Nate Stupar (2008-11) LB, New Orleans Saints
Saints 52, Lions 38
Stupar saw action on special teams in the victory over the Lions and made a great effort to keep a punt out of the end zone, resulting in Detroit starting at their own 2-yard line. Detroit then fumbled and it was recovered for a touchdown. Stupar also recovered an on-side kick in the third quarter, but suffered a season-ending ACL injury in the fourth quarter.

Travis saw limited action for the Chiefs against the Steelers on offense and special teams.

Cameron Wake (2000, 02-04) DE, Miami Dolphins
Dolphins 20, Falcons 17
Wake started for the Dolphins and made two tackles, including a sack in the fourth quarter, and two quarterback hits.

Trevor Williams (2012-15) CB, Los Angeles Chargers
Chargers 17, Raiders 16
Williams started at cornerback and recorded, his first career interception, which he returned for 21 yards. He also had one solo tackle and two defended passes.

Stefen Wisniewski (2007-10) G/C, Philadelphia Eagles
Eagles 28, Panthers 23
Wisniewski started at left guard and helped the offensive line pave the way for quarterback Carson Wentz to throw for 222 yards and three touchdowns. Wisniewski played all 62 offensive snaps on Thursday night.

Anthony Zettel, 2012-2015, DL, Detroit Lions
Saints 52, Lions 38
Zettel made his sixth career start for the Lions and had two tackles and a quarterback hit against the Saints.
