STATE COLLEGE, Pa., October 13, 2002 - ABC Sports will regionally televise Penn State's Big Ten clash at unbeaten Ohio State on Saturday, October 26. Kickoff has been set for 3:30 p.m. ET in Ohio Stadium.
The telecast is the eighth announced TV appearance of the season for the No. 21 Nittany Lions, who are 4-2 following Saturday's 27-24 overtime loss at Michigan. Penn State has appeared on television in 97 of its last 98 games, including the last 63 contests.
The Lions will be making their fourth appearance on ABC this season against the Buckeyes. Penn State beat Nebraska in an ABC split national telecast, while the Oct. 5 win at Wisconsin and Saturday's thriller at Michigan were ABC regional telecasts. The Lions appeared on ESPN vs. UCF and Iowa and the win over Louisiana Tech was an ESPN Regional telecast. This Saturday's Homecoming game with Northwestern will air on ESPN2.
ABC will be televising the Penn State-Ohio State clash for the ninth time in the last 10 meetings between the national powers, including next week's game.
Ohio State is 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Conference after a 50-7 win over San Jose State Saturday. The No. 4 Buckeyes visit Wisconsin Saturday before hosting the Nittany Lions.
Penn State leads the series with Ohio State, 10-7, including a thrilling 29-27 comeback win in Beaver Stadium last season. The Lions trailed 27-9 in the third quarter, but scored the contest's final 20 points for the biggest home comeback win under Coach Joe Paterno.
Future Penn State contests may be selected by the networks under the six and 12-day provisions of their contracts with the Big Ten.
