STATE COLLEGE, Pa., September 30, 2002 - ABC Sports will regionally televise Penn State's Big Ten clash at Michigan on Saturday, October 12. Kickoff time has been set for 3:30 p.m. ET in Michigan Stadium.
The telecast is the sixth announced TV appearance of the season for the No. 20 Nittany Lions, who are 3-1 following Saturday's 42-35 overtime loss to Iowa. Penn State has appeared on television in 95 of its last 96 games, including the last 61 contests.
The Michigan game will be Penn State's third appearance on ABC this season. The Lions beat Nebraska in an ABC split national telecast and this Saturday's contest at Wisconsin (5-0) will air on ABC at 3:30 p.m.. The Lions appeared on ESPN vs. UCF and Iowa and the win over Louisiana Tech was an ESPN Regional telecast.
Michigan is 4-1 and ranked No. 13 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll and No. 14 in the Associated Press poll. The Wolverines are idle this week. Michigan leads the series, 6-3.
ABC will be televising the Penn State-Michigan clash for the ninth time in the 10 meetings between the national powers, including next week's game.
Future Penn State contests may be selected by the networks under the six and 12-day provisions of their contracts with the Big Ten.
A limited number of tickets are available for the Penn State-Northwestern Homecoming game on Oct. 19 and the Nittany Lions' remaining home games this season.
