Penn State-Iowa Game Set for 3:30 p.m. Kick on ABC

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; - ABC will televise Penn State's Big Ten home opener against Iowa on October 6. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET in Beaver Stadium for the Varsity "S" Day/All-University Day battle.
Viewers in parts of the nation that do not receive the Penn State-Iowa game on their ABC affiliate will be able to watch the contest on ESPN2.
The contest with the Hawkeyes is the eighth announced TV appearance of the season for No. 19 Penn State. Saturday's Big Ten contest at Illinois will air on the Big Ten Network with kickoff at 11:00 a.m. CT/12:00 p.m. ET in Champaign.
The Nittany Lions (3-1) will be making their second appearance of the season on ABC. Last Saturday's clash with Michigan was an ABC national telecast. Penn State will host Wisconsin at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 on ABC and the Oct. 27 Ohio State game will air on ABC, ESPN or ESPN at 8:00 p.m. from Happy Valley. ESPN aired Penn State's 31-10 primetime win over Notre Dame on Sept. 8 and the Lions appeared on the Big Ten Network against FIU and Buffalo.
Penn State and Iowa will be meeting for the first time since 2004. The Nittany Lions lead the series, 10-9, but the Hawkeyes have won the last five meetings. Iowa hosts Indiana on Saturday before traveling to State College.
In their 15th season of Big Ten competition, the Nittany Lions have appeared on television in 155 of their last 157 games. Future Penn State contests may be selected by the networks under the six and 12-day provisions of their contracts with the Big Ten.
The Big Ten Network will televise Saturday's game at Illinois (3-1, 1-0). The Big Ten Network can been seen in more than 30 million homes, including DirecTV (Ch. 220) and DISH Network (Ch. 439). More than 135 cable providers within the eight Big Ten states are carrying the network on expanded basic cable, including D&E Communications and Millheim TV Transmission and Penn State campus cable in Central Pennsylvania.
The specific DirecTV and DISH Network channels airing the Penn State-Illinois game will be announced later in the week.
