UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; - ESPN or ESPN2 will nationally televise Penn State's Big Ten clash with Purdue on Saturday, October 4. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. ET at Ross-Ade Stadium.
An announcement will be made by Sept. 29 on which ESPN channel will air the game.
The contest with the Boilermakers (2-1) is the Nittany Lions' ninth announced TV appearance of the season. The Nittany Lions (4-0) will be making their first appearance of the season on ESPN when they travel to West Lafayette.
Penn State has made appearances on ABC against Oregon State and Syracuse and appeared on the Big Ten Network against Coastal Carolina and Temple. This Saturday's 8 p.m. clash with No. 21 Illinois is an ABC split national telecast.
Penn State improved to 4-0 with a 45-3 thumping of Temple last Saturday, moving to No. 12 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls. Purdue defeated Central Michigan, 32-25, on Saturday and visits Notre Dame this week.
Penn State leads the series with the Boilermakers, 9-3-1, capturing a 26-19 win in Beaver Stadium last season. Following the Oct. 4 game, the two schools won't meet again until 2011.
The game at Purdue will begin a five-game stretch for Penn State that includes four road conference games.
The Nittany Lions have appeared on television in 168 of their last 170 games. The kick times and TV for eight Penn State games were announced prior to the season. Future Penn State contests may be selected by the networks under the six and 12-day provisions of their contracts with the Big Ten.
