The telecast is the fourth announced TV appearance of the season for the No. 15 Nittany Lions and the third that will be seen by a national audience. Penn State has appeared on television in 93 of its last 94 games, including the last 59 contests.
The Iowa game will be Penn State's second appearance on ESPN this season. The Lions opened the season with a victory over UCF on ESPN. Last Saturday's 40-7 win over No. 8 Nebraska was an ABC split national telecast and this Saturday's home game with Louisiana Tech will be televised by ESPN Regional.
Penn State (2-0) leads the Iowa series, 10-6, but the Hawkeyes have won the last two meetings, a 24-18 victory last year in Iowa City, Iowa, and a 26-23, double overtime victory in their last trip to Beaver Stadium in 2000. The visiting team has won 11 of the 16 meetings in the series, with Iowa holding a 4-3 edge in Beaver Stadium.
Iowa is 2-1 and hosts Utah State this week before traveling to Happy Valley.
Future Penn State contests may be selected by the networks under the six and 12-day provisions of their contracts with the Big Ten.
