PENN STATE POSTGAME OFFENSIVE PLAYER QUOTES
Penn State vs. Navy
September 15, 2012

#45 P.J. Byers
Sr./Sr., Fullback

Q: What do you think about today's game?
A: It was great. I could not have asked for a better game.

Q: What does this win mean for Penn State?
A: This is the start of something great and we are going to keep on rolling. We should expect more wins.

#13 Paul Jones
Jr./So., Tight End/Quarterback

Q: Has playing quarterback helped you make the transition to tight end?
A: I would say so, especially in this offense, because you have to make sure as a wide receiver or tight end you know the specific plays. It made the transition kind of easy.

Q: How did the change happen?
A: Well, I said something joking around. We were watching Patriots film and (tight end) Aaron Hernandez caught a lot of balls that game, and I said, '
Coach, that's me,' just joking around. Then we had a talk and he said, 'Well, you should try,' and I said, "Sure, I'll try." I didn't want to for an hour. I talked to him some more, then I said, 'I'll do it.' Monday I tried it and that Tuesday afternoon I told him I'll play it.

Q: How good did it feel to just get into a game for the first time?
A: It felt real good. The first play I blocked and it was alright. The second play I blocked. The third one was a catch. As the ball was coming to me, I kind of got nervous because it was coming right at me. Then after I caught it, my body just went numb and stopped thinking. I just reacted to everything.

#11 Matt McGloin
Gr./Sr., Quarterback

Q: Why was it important to get this win for Coach O'Brien today?
A: He's been through a ton so far since he's taken the job here. He gives it 110 percent, and the support is there for him. It's definitely been frustrating for us and for him, and it was so important for us to get that win.

Q: Coach O'Brien said your passing game is okay. What do you think about that?
A: It's just okay for now. I made some mistakes. I threw some bad balls. I chased my read once or twice. So we'll go back, watch the film tomorrow and correct it.

Q: Is your relationship with Allen Robinson kind of like it was with Derek Moye?
A: Derek (Moye) was a great player and a great friend of mine. Allen (Robinson) is a tremendous talent, and hopefully he continues to progress. He is only a sophomore, so he's got a bright future.

#85 Brandon Moseby-Felder
Sr./Jr., Wide Receiver

Q: Does winning this game help your confidence moving forward?
A: Definitely, it's a confidence builder. Take one game at a time. We have Temple next. Hope we get this next one too.

Q: Can you talk about Allen Robinson?
A: He stepped up big time. He is only a sophomore making great plays. He's like my little brother.

Q: What did you say to (Allen Robinson) after the ball bounced off of Trevor Williams' hands?
A: Great catch. Great catch. That's all you can say to him.

#8 Allen Robinson
So./So., Wide Reciever

Q: What are your thoughts on the game?
A: It definitely felt great to get our first win. I wish it came a little earlier in the season but that's what we worked hard for. We had a good week in practice this week, fine-tuning some things we did not do so well against Ohio and Virginia.

Q: You were open a lot today. What was the defense doing that allowed you to be open?
A: Coach O'Brien does a great job of game planning. We saw a few things they did defensively and we were able to capitalize. There were some other receivers open as well and Matt [McGloin] connected with them as well. I think it was all about game planning.

Q: How much better did you feel about the offense and its capability as compared to a couple weeks ago?
A: I think it is the same. Today we were able to fine-tune some things like on third down; we were able to capitalize a lot. We didn't get into a lot of third and longs, so I think that was the big thing today. We just went into this week focusing on third downs and scoring in the red zone. I think that was something we did well today. We had one red zone score and were able to capitalize on a lot of big plays.

Q: Is having a win this week going to take a load off your back next week going against a team like Temple?
A: Temple is a great team. They played us tough last year, so we know it is going to be a big game and a physical game. Temple wants to beat us and we want to beat them. I don't think it's a load off our back. We will still work hard to beat Temple.

Q: With everything that's happened over the last year, how does it feel to have the Penn State community come together and it was smiles?
A: The first two games, we played well, but we always had our head down because we couldn't come up with the win. Today we came in after a good week of practice and played well. [The defense] got turnovers and we were able to get big plays on offense and have some long drives. It was definitely great to come up with the win today.

#54 Matt Stankiewitch
Sr./Sr., Center

Q: Was the team shaken at all over those first two games?
A: Everything is shaken about you. But you have to battle through that adversity on a Saturday.
We battled this week in practice, and the backbone of that was Coach O'Brien. He's the heart of this team, and we all follow his lead and we go from there.

Q: Who planned Coach O'Brien's Gatorade shower?
A: (Matt) McGloin planned it. I thought it would be just me and McGloin knowing, but then he was going around telling everyone. I thought if he told the whole team then Coach O'Brien would find out. It was a good idea for Coach O'Brien's first win as a head coach.

Q: What was Coach O'Brien yelling at you guys after he got that shower?
A: He was just excited that it was his first win. He loves stuff like camaraderie and emotion after a good win. The thing is we're going to have respect if we win, and we're going to have respect if we lose. We have to win with pride, and we have to lose with pride. Today was just a good day.

#9 Michael Zordich
Gr./Sr., Fullback/Running back

Q: To be able do that in a game of this importance to this program, how did it make you feel to have a big role?
A: Yes, it felt great. We knew we needed a win, we needed a win to get rolling and it felt good to be able to have that kind of responsibility and be able to go out and play like that and have all those guys with me in the huddle. At the end of the day, we got the win and it feels good. We are happy for Coach and just ready to get it going.

Q: I know you guys talked a lot about sticking together during the 0-2 start, what does a win like this do in terms of making you feel better about yourselves?
A: It is a confidence booster, but I mean losing is just not fun no matter how close you are. A win is a win, it helps with everything. It is more fun, guys get ready to go, get more hungry and as we get rolling hopefully we can get more wins out there and keep this going.

Q: Were you anxious coming in knowing you were going to get the ball more?
A: Yes, I haven't really carried the ball since four years ago so it was a lot of fun for me. It was something I was looking forward to.
