UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; August 28, 2014 - Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is advising fans to review the University's bag policy (http://guru.psu.edu/policies/SY44.html) prior to attending athletic events during the 2014-15 competitive season. The University policy has undergone several revisions, many of which have changed what items are allowed in each of Penn State's Athletics facilities.
UNIVERSITY BAG POLICY: BEAVER STADIUM
Beaver Stadium will still have a limited bag policy, which allows fans to enter with one clear one-gallon plastic bag per person with permitted items such as those for medical or child care needs. Fans are advised that items that can fit in a pocket should remain in a patron's pocket (including but not limited to keys, cell phone, wallet, glasses, camera, sunscreen, lip balm, and make-up). General items of this nature, including those that don't fit in a patron's pocket, can also be placed in a clear one-gallon plastic bag. All bags will still be inspected prior to entrance into Beaver Stadium and patrons without bags will be able to bypass the bag and article check stations at most gates.
Patrons are also allowed to bring loose items into Beaver Stadium including: coat, wristlet with or without a strap (no larger than 4"x6"x1"), blanket, seat cushion that can be rolled and that does not have pockets, iPad or other mobile devices, camera (no camera bag), and binoculars. Babies may be brought into athletic venes in a soft baby carrier or sling. Rigid frame baby and toddler carriers, as well as strollers, are not permitted. No other bags are permitted, including: backpacks, fanny packs, purses, string bags, diaper bags, messenger bags, camera bags, brief cases, roll bags, and any other bags.
UNIVERSITY BAG POLICY: BRYCE JORDAN CENTER, REC HALL, PEGULA ICE ARENA, JEFFREY FIELD, MEDLAR FIELD AT LUBRANO PARK
No backpacks or duffle bags are permitted during varsity athletic events, other athletic and non-athletic events at these venues. No bags or purses larger than 8.5'x11'x6' will be permitted. All other bags will be searched upon entrance to the facility.
There will be no restrictions on bags at the following facilities, however, bags may be subject to search upon entrance to the facility: Penn State Field Hockey Complex, Penn State Lacrosse Complex, Nittany Lion Softball Park, Holuba Hall, Multi-Sport Facilty/Horace Ashenfelter Indoor Track, Nittany Lion Outdoor Track, White Building, Sarni Tennis Center, Tennis Club, McCoy Natatorium and the Intramural Building.
There are no restrictions of inspections at the Blue and White Golf Courses.
At each venue there will be separate doors/gates for patrons who will need their bags searched. Patrons without bags will be able to enter at the other doors without delay. These are minimum standards and additional restrictions can be added if necessary.
Babies may be brought into all athletic venues in a soft baby carrier or a sling - however, all ticketing standards apply. Rigid frame baby and toddler carriers, as well as strollers, are permitted at venues with appropriate standing room areas (not including Beaver Stadium).
