Student Tickets On Sale Monday at 7 a.m. for Season Opener vs. Syracuse

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; August 25, 2013 - Penn State students interested in attending the Nittany Lions' 2013 season opener against Syracuse at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, August 31 will have an opportunity to purchase tickets on Monday, August 26 at 7 a.m. The tickets can be purchased at Gate B (northeast corner) of the Bryce Jordan Center.
A limited number of student tickets for the 3:30 p.m. game will be made available on a first-come, first served basis. Each student will be permitted to purchase two tickets at $25 per ticket and must present a valid Penn State ID+ Card to secure the tickets. All sales of all tickets will be done on a cash only basis. Credit cards and checks will not be accepted.
If student tickets still remain after 8 a.m. on Monday, the sale will move from Gate B to the Athletic Ticket Office inside the BJC. Student tickets will be available until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, unless the student allotment is exhausted earlier.
Public tickets for the clash vs. the Orange in East Rutherford, N.J., as well as Penn State season and single game tickets are available by calling 1-800-NITTANY, weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Blue & White Brigade is a new program sponsored by the University Park Undergraduate Association that will provide transportation to selected away football games at no cost to students. The Syracuse game at MetLife Stadium and the Ohio State game in Columbus have been selected as games the Blue and White Brigade will be traveling to for the 2013 football season.
Penn State students and all fans attending the Syracuse game are advised that MetLife Stadium will implement the NFL policy that limits the size and type of bags permitted in the stadium. Fans may bring a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that does not exceed 12" x 6" x 12" or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag. Small clutch bags (wristlet), approximately the size of a hand (4.5" x 6.5"), with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options.
Penn State will be playing at MetLife Stadium, site of Super Bowl XLVIII, for the first time. The Nittany Lions last played at The Meadowlands Sports Complex in the 2000 Kickoff Classic.
Penn State enters its second season under head coach Bill O'Brien, who was the 2012 Bear Bryant, Maxwell Football Club and ESPN National Coach of the Year and the Big Ten Dave McClain Coach of the Year. The Nittany Lions posted an 8-4 overall mark in 2012 and finished second in the Big Ten Leaders Division with a 6-2 record.
The Nittany Lions return 16 starters and 37 letterwinners for the 2013 campaign. Season tickets are available for the 2013 season. The Nittany Lions will host three teams that finished in the 2012 BCS Top 25: Michigan (Oct. 12-Homecoming), Nebraska (Nov. 23) and Kent State (Sept. 21). Purdue (Nov. 16), Illinois (Nov. 2), UCF (Sept. 14, 6 p.m.) and Eastern Michigan (Sept. 7, 12 p.m.) also will visit Beaver Stadium this year.
The Nittany Lions received votes in the Preseason AP Top 25 poll and will play four teams that appear in the both the AP Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll: Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Penn State home opponents Kent State and UCF also received votes in the Preseason USA Today Coaches Poll.
