UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Football's video website - www.GOPSF.com - will introduce a major social networking component when it re-launches Monday at noon. The popular video vault, which features more than 100 videos, originally launched in spring of 2006 had become a destination site for football fans and recruits.
The new site will incorporate a virtual social network newsstand on-top of the original video vault. The new GOPSF.com features a coaches and staff Twitter thread; Facebook pages populated with insider postings from the football building and locker room; gameday stadium production preview: show teasers and behind the scenes of the Emmy Award-winning Penn State Football Story program.
There also will be staff recommendations and fan favorites on YouTube videos, Flickr pics and GOPSF's own video vault. Fans and can suggest music for gameday and communicate with each other on Facebook pages regarding football special events and theme days.
"We recognize the opportunity social networking provides for us to communicate with our constituent groups, as well as providing a place where fans and recruits can get the centralized content they desire on the team," said Football Brand Director Guido D'Elia.
"Penn State Athletics felt it was imperative that we begin to take full advantage of the latest technologies in serving our fans and assisting our coaches", said Greg Myford, Associate Athletic Director for Business Relations and Communications.
www.GOPSF.com traditionally has high a volume of unique visitors and extended stay times beyond industry norms and this additional service is expected to increase those trends with the addition of extensive social network elements.
