Quarterback Club Membership Nearing Capacity; Weekly Luncheons Set For September 1 Debut
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., July 28, 2004 - State College Quarterback Club President Jim Meister announced today that membership was nearing capacity for the 11 Penn State Football luncheons this season. "We are fast approaching our membership cap," Meister said. "We're very pleased with the response and enthusiasm for the upcoming season." Meister urged previous and new Quarterback Club members to register for their 2004 membership by August 13 in order to have their membership card and parking pass in hand for the first luncheon. With new reserved parking procedures and registration now being held in the Mount Nittany Club in Beaver Stadium, the logistics of signing up at the first luncheon may be more difficult than in previous years. Membership is open to the public and all dues are tax deductible. The Quarterback Club will begin its weekly luncheons on Wednesday, September 1, at The Mount Nittany Club. The luncheons, held during the football season, feature Penn State coach Joe Paterno and members of the squad each week. There will be 11 luncheons through November 17. There will not be a luncheon during the Nittany Lions' bye week, on October 13th. All Quarterback Club members will receive a parking pass, which is valid for the Upper portion of Lot 44, just across the street and south of the stadium. Spaces will be reserved for the Club luncheons on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional reserved parking for Club members will be available in the metered parking lot across Curtin Road from the Penn State All-Sports Museum. The luncheons will feature a new, expanded buffet, with a selection of sandwiches, salads, soup, dessert and beverages at all luncheons. The lunch and program are $12 per person for members and $16 per person for a guest who may attend only one time per year. The doors to the Mount Nittany Club will open at 11:00 a.m. Registration will take place in the Mount Nittany Club and the main entrance for club members will be through Gate B on the west side of the stadium. Membership in the Quarterback Club is $50 per person or $80 per married couple and is tax deductible. Checks payable to the State College Quarterback Club should be sent to: Mr. Bob Levy, Seligman Friedman, 1423 North Atherton Street, State College, PA 16803. A membership card and reserved parking pass will be mailed to Club members upon receipt of 2004 dues. The State College Quarterback Club supports the Penn State football program and is open to all fans of the Nittany Lions. The Club annually sponsors the Penn State Football Banquet, which salutes the Nittany Lion seniors, following the season. For additional information on the club and its activities, interested parties can call Bob Levy at (814) 238-8474.
