STATE COLLEGE, Pa., June 28, 2004 -- A limited number of season tickets remain for Penn State students for the 2004 Nittany Lion football campaign. Students received information after the Spring semester on purchasing season football tickets on-line via their University e-mail address. The Nittany Lions will play six home games this fall, with visits by four Big Ten teams that played bowl games last season: Purdue, Iowa, Northwestern and Michigan State. Students can also purchase men's and women's basketball tickets for the 2004-05 season when they purchase football tickets. All returning students who were registered for at least 12 credits in the 2004 Spring semester, are registered for at least 12 credits for the 2004 Fall semester, and have an email address listed with the University, should have received an email in late May advising them that they may pay for student football and basketball tickets, as well as Penn State Student Spirit Shirts ($15) on-line with a credit card. Students will need to log onto the web address provided and use their account number and the PIN number that will be included in the email. Students who do not wish to purchase on-line or that do not receive an application, but will be registered for a minimum of 12 credits in the Fall are able to download an application by visiting www.GoPSUsports.com and clicking on the 'Tickets' link. All incoming freshmen should have received a paper application, mailed to their home, address provided that they were a paid accept by May 1, 2004. Student football tickets are $131 for six home games. Coach Joe Paterno's squad returns 32 letterwinners and 15 starters from last season. The Nittany Lions open the season vs. Akron (Sept. 4), travel to Boston College and then host the University of Central Florida (Sept. 18) to close the non-conference slate. Penn State plays its first two Big Ten contests at Wisconsin and Minnesota and then plays four of its last six games in Beaver Stadium. The Lions will welcome Purdue (Oct. 9) and then Iowa for Homecoming on October 23. Following a trip to Ohio State on Oct. 30, Penn State will host Northwestern (Nov. 6) and Michigan State (Nov. 20) in the annual season ending contest for the Land Grant Trophy. Orders are being processed on a first-come, first-served basis and students are encouraged to respond as early as possible. Student season football tickets sell out each year. Men's ($50) and women's ($10) basketball student season tickets also can be bought when purchasing season football tickets. Nittany Lion basketball coach Ed DeChellis has brought his passion for Penn State and fast paced, exciting style of play back to his alma mater. Entering his second year, DeChellis will welcome back junior Aaron Johnson and sophomore guards Ben Luber and Marlon Smith in 2004-05, as well as a highly-regarded class of five newcomers. Smith became the first Nittany Lion selected to the Big Ten All-Freshman team this past season. Several newcomers also are expected to be immediate contributors. Men's basketball student season tickets are $50. Lady Lion basketball coach Rene Portland returns a solid nucleus and is bringing in a highly-touted class of recruits as Penn State seeks a third consecutive Big Ten Championship in 2004-05. Penn State loses the services of three-time All-American Kelly Mazzante and Jess Brungo, but returns Tanisha Wright, a first team All-Big Ten selection, and point guard Jess Strom, a third team All-Big Ten choice. Penn State drew five crowds in excess of 10,000 during the 2003-04 season, including two of more than 15,000. Lady Lion basketball student season tickets are $10.
