STATE COLLEGE, Pa., June 19, 2002 -- Penn State's Homecoming football game with Big Ten rival Northwestern on Saturday, October 19 will kickoff at 12:10 p.m. in Beaver Stadium.
The contest will be televised by ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPN Regional, with the televising network or stations most likely to be announced 12 days before the game.
Penn State and Northwestern will be meeting in Happy Valley for the first time since 1998. The Nittany Lions lead the series, 6-1, with the initial meeting in 1993. The Lions have won the last four contests with the Wildcats, including a dramatic 38-35 comeback win in Evanston last season.
The contest will be Penn State's 83rd Homecoming game. The Nittany Lions have are? 59-18-5 in front of the alumni audience, winning 33 of 36 games under Coach Joe Paterno.
Paterno's squad returns 28 lettermen and 16 starters for the upcoming season.
