He played for the Nittany Lions and is a 1982 Penn State graduate. Dorenkott has served as head coach of the Penn State women's swimming and diving program for six years and three years ago took over the helm as men's coach as well. He led the women's team to its first Big Ten Championship in 2002 and this past season saw the team narrowly miss out on a second Conference crown. Dorenkott has guided the men's and women's teams to their highest NCAA Championships finishes, with the women placing 11th in 2001 and the men placing 15th in 2002. The golf tournament is limited to the first 160 applicants.
