Nittany Lions' Clash With Louisiana Tech To Be Televised by ESPN Regional
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., June 13, 2002 -- Penn State's Sept. 21 football ga,me with Louisiana Tech will be televised by ESPN Regional to syndicated network of stations. The clash will begin at 12:10 p.m. EDT in Beaver Stadium.
Stations carrying the game will be announced closer to the start of the season.
The contest is the third announced telecast of the season for the Nittany Lions. The August 31 season opener with UCF will air on ESPN at 12:10 p.m. and the Sept. 14 clash vs. Nebraska will begin at 8:00 p.m. EDT in Beaver Stadium and be televised by ABC.
The time of the October 5 game at Wisconsin, which previously had been announced as 3:30 or 7:00 p.m. ET, should be listed as "To Be Announced" and could start as early as 12:10 p.m. ET.
Penn State has appeared on television in 91 of its last 92 games, including the last 57 contests.
The Nittany Lions and Bulldogs will be meeting for the second time. Penn State won the first contest, 67-7, during the 2000 season. Louisiana Tech won the Western Athletic Conference last season and fell to Clemson in the Humanitarian Bowl to finish 7-5. Coach Jack Bicknell was selected WAC Coach of the Year. The Bulldogs lost three road games by 10 points or less to Auburn (overtime), Fresno State and Oklahoma State last season.
Coach Joe Paterno's squad returns 28 lettermen and 16 starters for the 2002 season.
