June 4, 2014
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 2014 Penn State student football season ticket sale will begin on Monday, June 23 and run through Thursday, June 26. The senior class and graduate students will kick-off the annual sale on June 23, with the sale continuing through the freshman ticket sale on June 26.
Penn State students who want to be part of the passion and pride of the energetic student section for James Franklin’s first season as head coach should prepare for the sale soon to ensure the smoothest experience possible. Early this month, students will receive an email with more specific sale information pertaining to them, including the direct link to purchase. The student football season ticket sale is online only.
Eligibility and the daily schedule are posted at Student Central: www.GoPSUsports.com/studentcentral.
Intercollegiate Athletics recommends that all students eligible to participate thoroughly review all sale instructions before their assigned ticket sale date. Students should also consider printing out a copy of the Quick Start sale instructions that will be posted by June 20 for reference while purchasing their ticket. Individual sale dates are determined by credits earned by May 30, 2014. It is suggested students check their class standing prior to sale week at: http://www.registrar.psu.edu/registration/semester_classification.cfm. All sales will occur online.
More than 21,000 student football full season tickets will be available for the Nittany Lions' 2014 campaign. Students looking forward to being part of what ESPN The Magazine called “The Nation’s No. 1 Student Section,” will witness a home schedule that includes a pair of top 10 teams from last year in Ohio State (Oct. 25, 8 p.m.) and Michigan State (Nov. 29-Senior Day), Homecoming foe Northwestern (Sept. 27) and new Big Ten member Maryland (Nov. 1). Temple (Nov. 15) Akron (Sept. 6) and Massachusetts (Sept. 20) also will visit Beaver Stadium this fall.
The online sale is open only to full-time registered students with each class being allocated a specific amount of tickets. A "Sold Out" message will be posted to Student Central when ticket resources have been exhausted for that day's respective class sale.
Students may also purchase the official 2014 Penn State White Out T-shirt or join the Student Nittany Lion Club and begin earning NLC points during the June 23-26 sale. The 2014 student prices will be the same as last year: $218 for a season ticket (7 games), $20 for White Out T-shirt, and $25 for a Student Nittany Lion Club membership.
For more information on important dates as well as the purchasing process, please visit www.GoPSUsports.com/studentcentral. Students should note all deadlines and procedures that need to be followed.
Specific questions about the sale can be addressed by calling the Athletics Customer Relations Center at 1-800-NITTANY (648-8269) from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Athletics Customer Relations Center hours during the sale week (June 23-26) will be 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Customers can also send questions to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Franklin was named Penn State's 16th head football coach on January 11. A product of Langhorne, Pa., Franklin led Vanderbilt University to unprecedented success the past three years as head coach, including consecutive nine-win seasons and bowl victories the past two years, as well as back-to-back Top 25 finishes, all for the first time in Vanderbilt history. In his 20th year of coaching, Franklin was a two-time All-PSAC quarterback at East Stroudsburg University and set or tied 23 school records.
Penn State returns 41 letterwinners and 15 starters (7 offense, 7 defense, 1 specialist) for the upcoming season. The Nittany Lions open the season Aug. 30 vs. UCF in the Croke Park Classic in Dublin, Ireland.
