UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - A minimum of 12 head coaches are scheduled to participate as the Penn State Coaches Caravan begins its seven state, 18-stop tour throughout Nittany Nation on Monday, April 30 with two events in Philadelphia.

Nittany Lion football coach Bill O'Brien will headline the bus tour of numerous Penn State alumni and fan strongholds across Pennsylvania, Ohio and the Eastern Seaboard. The first-year gridiron coach is scheduled to participate in all 18 Coaches Caravan stops over nine days through May 16.

The Nittany Lion Club and the Penn State Alumni Association have teamed up to provide fans the chance to meet and hear from some of the leaders of Penn State Athletics. The Penn State Coaches Caravan will feature selected coaches speaking and answering questions from Penn State alumni and fans at every Coaches Caravan stop.

O'Brien will be joined at Monday's two Delaware Valley events by Philadelphia area natives Patrick Chambers and Char Morett. Entering her 26th year as the Penn State field hockey coach, Morett is a member of the Delaware County Hall of Fame. Nittany Lion Basketball coach Chambers is the all-time assist leader at Philadelphia University.

On Tuesday, May 1, Chambers and O'Brien will head to Baltimore (lunch) and Washington, D.C. (evening) and be joined by Beth Alford-Sullivan (men's and women's track and field/cross country) and Denise St. Pierre (women's golf) at both events.

On Wednesday, May 2, O'Brien and Alford-Sullivan will speak at a breakfast in Richmond, Va. and then travel to the Harrisburg area and be joined by Morett for an evening event in Camp Hill.

"I felt like it was important for me to reach out to as many people as possible," Coach O'Brien said. "People need to get to know me, and I really want to get to know the alums and fans out there that really care about Penn State."

"The Coaches Caravan is a tremendous opportunity for me to meet and spend some time with the great Penn State fans in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.," Chambers said. "I'm really looking forward to going out and feeling the passion and the energy of the Nittany Nation as well as spending some time with fellow Penn State coaches on an old-school bus tour. It's going to be a lot of fun."

Coquese Washington (women's basketball), Guy Gadowsky (men's hockey), Mark Pavlik (men's volleyball) and Greg Nye (men's golf) are among the head coaches who have joined the Coaches Caravan during the past two weeks.

The second week of Penn State Coaches Caravan features events in Hazleton and Lehigh Valley (May 8), Woodbridge, N.J. and New York City (May 9) and Hartford and Scranton (May 10).

The third week of the Coaches Caravan begins with a breakfast in Altoona and evening event in Pittsburgh on May 14, followed by stops in Youngstown and Cleveland (May 15) and Erie and Buffalo (May 16).
