Some athletes manage to navigate their entire collegiate career without a serious injury. Others, like Devon Still, are not so fortunate. Nittany Nation has barely had an opportunity to see the skills and athleticism that made Still an all-state defensive tackle at Howard Technology HS due to significant injuries. But, he had a productive spring practice and is ready to provide a big boost to the interior defensive line, which returns the three players who rotated for the vast majority of the snaps last season. During the first week of 2007 preseason camp, true freshman Still sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in his left knee, requiring season-ending surgery. After doing a great job in his rehabilitation, Still entered 2008 preseason camp with an opportunity to earn a spot in the defensive tackle rotation. But, he was dealt another setback, suffering a broken left ankle in August. Driven by the desire to make his Penn State debut in 2008, Still again worked hard in his rehab and saw his first action in the Big Ten-clinching win over Michigan State. Still has great physical attributes and skills and should have a chance to earn significant playing time in the defensive line rotation. Still is among four returning Nittany Lions from Delaware.
