Director of Strength and Conditioning for Football

Craig Fitzgerald is in his second year as the Nittany Lions' Director of Strength and Conditioning for Football and has made a significant impact with his intense regimen for the team and passion for his trade. A Philadelphia native, Fitzgerald served as Director of Football Strength & Conditioning at South Carolina from 2009-11. His efforts were instrumental in helping the Gamecocks win a school record 11 games in 2011 and post their first Top 10 finish. Fitzgerald was director of strength and conditioning at Harvard from 2005-09, overseeing strength training for 41 varsity sports, including the 2007 and 2008 Ivy League champion football teams.

He was assistant director of strength and conditioning at Maryland, his alma mater, from 2000-05, where he and Bill O'Brien first worked together. He was Catholic University's first director of strength and conditioning from 1997-99 and also was a graduate assistant at Arizona State. He was a three-year football letterman with the Terps, graduating in 1997. Fitzgerald is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). In 2010, he earned the highest honor given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession with the certification of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach from the CSCCA. Fitzgerald graduated from LaSalle College High School with Defensive Coordinator John Butler and former Penn State All-Big Ten tackle Keith Conlin.
