A standout at Gaithersburg High School, Carter comes to Penn State after playing for head coach Kreg Kephart. Carter was rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports.com, Rivals.com and Scout.com and a three-star prospect by ESPN. A two-year captain, Scout.com ranked Carter as the eighth-best defensive end prospect, 58th-best overall and the top prospect in Maryland. Rivals.com named Carter the 11th-best athlete in the class and the fourth-best prospect in the state. The versatile Carter saw time at quarterback, tight end and defensive end during his time at Gaithersburg High School. He accounted for 453 yards of offense and tallied 54 tackles, including 10.0 TFL during the past two seasons. Carter also plays basketball.
