A native of Western Pennsylvania, Petrishen was tabbed as a consensus three-star defensive back. Rated as the second-best safety in Pennsylvania by, Petrishen comes to Penn State following a standout career at Pittsburgh Central Catholic while playing for head coach Terry Totten. Petrishen earned first-team all-state honors after helping lead the Vikings to a combined 26-3 overall record during the past two seasons. An All-WPIAL defensive back, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fabulous 22" honoree and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette MVP, Petrishen was a dynamic player who made significant contributions on both sides of the ball. He made 59 tackles and had four interceptions during his senior season. He also rushed for 381 yards in 2014, helping the Vikings reach the WPIAL title game. Petrishen made 59 hits and had three interceptions as a junior, helping Pittsburgh Central Catholic to win the AAAA WPIAL title and become PIAA runner-up. Additionally, Petrishen was one of the best returners in WPIAL history, tallying seven punt returns and one kickoff return for scores during the last two seasons. He also plays basketball.
