Selected Penn State over Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Minnesota, Pitt and others

One of the top wide receivers in the state, Apke was a first-team All-Pennsylvania choice. The latest in a long line of western Pennsylvania prep standouts to matriculate to Penn State, he was selected to play in the prestigious Big 33 Football Classic vs. Maryland. During his senior season, Apke grabbed 40 passes for 728 yards and had touchdown catches. He also had 10 carries for 103 yards and one score. Apke delivered a strong junior season with 54 receptions for 1,048 yards, which was fourth in the WPIAL, and 13 touchdowns. His father, Steve, played linebacker for Pitt in the mid-1980s.
