Philadelphia, Pa. November 4, 2000 ¡ª The Penn State Fencing team competed this weekend at Temple University, officially opening up the 2000-2001 campaign.

The women¡¯s team had a strong performance placing high in all three weapons. In women¡¯s epee, senior Beth Shelley placed 7th. The women foilers also had strong performances by seniors Colleen Hicks, who placed 3rd, Judit Gordon, 6th, and sophomore Lauren Pilnick, who finished 9th.

Junior Austin O'Neill won the title in the saber while teammate Stephanie Tam placed third.
