Columbus, OH- Penn State remains tied with St. John's for fourth place after day three of the 2012 NCAA Championships. After the first four rounds of the men's events, Penn State has 122 team points. Ohio State leads the team standings with 149 points. They are followed by Princeton and Notre Dame with 135 and 130 points, respectively. The Nittany Lions will look to finish strong on day four of the championships.
In Men's Saber, three-time All-American Aleksander Ochocki (Clark, N.J.) defeated 10 of his 13 opponents and currently holds second place. Ohio State's Max Stearns lead the saber event with 13 wins. Ochocki will try to better his third place finish in 2011 and add to his 2009 National Title.
Also competing in Men's Saber was Adrian Bak (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) knocked off 8 opponents and sits in eighth place. Bak will look to repeat as an All-American after placing seventh last year. Penn State is the only team with two fencers in the top ten of the saber event.
Daniel Gomez-Tanamachi (Mexico City, Mexico) is in 11th place after defeating 7 opponents on day three in the Men's Foil. He will look to push for an All-American spot on day four. David Gomez-Tanamachi (Mexico City, Mexico) won 5 bouts and is 17th in the event.
Senior Oliver Valdes (Southlake, TX) sits in 11th place in the Men's Epee after knocking off 7 of his 13 opponents. Anthony Green (Stamford, Conn.) won 4 bouts after qualifying for the championship through an at-large bid.
The 2012 NCAA Championships will conclude on day four with rounds 5-7 and the medal rounds of the men's events.
