Assistant Coach


Long-time international fencing coach Alexei Sintchinov has been named an assistant coach with the Penn State fencing teams. Sintchinov joins head coach Wes Glon's staff after three years as an assistant coach at Ohio State.

Sintchinov has an extensive fencing resume and has been a professional coach since 1976. He is also a Master of Sport in Fencing. During his international coaching tenure, he was the head coach of the Belarus, Egypt and Tunisia National Teams. During his time with Belarus, Sintchinov was named Honored Coach of Belarus in 1991. He was the head coach of the 2000 Egypt Olympic Team.

The new Nittany Lion was a sought-after private and club coach from 2004-2011 before making the move into collegiate coaching, joining the Buckeye Staff in 2011. Sintchinov spent three years in Columbus, helping guide Ohio State to 2012 NCAA Championship.

Sintchinov went to school at the Belarussian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport with a specialty in coaching and teaching.
