Nittany Lions Primed for Return to Rec Hall
Dec. 13, 2013
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - After 17 and a half years away, the Nittany Lion basketball team (8-3) will return to Rec Hall on Saturday when it faces off against Princeton (7-1) at 2 p.m. (TV-BTN).
Few college sports atmospheres compare to the intimate confines inside a packed Rec Hall. Fans are on top of the action, creating the ultimate home court advantage. Saturday's game will be contested in front of a sold out crowd, and head coach Patrick Chambers is fired up to coach his first game in the historic building.
"We want to wake up the echoes," Chambers said. "We want to bring back that fan base, bring back that tradition and history. It's great where we are right now (as a team) at 8-3. And we need to continue on that path."
The history and legacy of the Penn State program is important to Chambers, and that is a big reason why he and the staff members worked so hard to make the Return to Rec a reality. It has been a two-year process to finalize the logistics.
The wait is over. Get primed for Penn State's clash against Princeton in the return to Rec Hall.
