UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The upcoming reverse car drawing on September 19 offers the opportunity to win a brand new car and support two worthy causes in Coaches vs. Cancer - Penn State and The Bestwick Foundation. The event will take place at 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
The Penn State Coaches vs. Cancer chapter hosts the Reverse Car Drawing every year. Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration with the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches to raise funds and awareness in support of lifesaving cancer research, education, advocacy, and community service efforts. Coaches vs. Cancer was formed in 1998 and has raised nearly $40 million since its inception.
The Bestwick Foundation is organized to provide financial support for individuals and families dealing with cancer within the Centre County (Pa) Region. The organization began incorporation in July 2011. In 2012-2013 the organization funded over $70,000 to various beneficiaries.
In 2011, Penn State men's basketball head coach, Patrick Chambers, became the Penn State chapter representative. Every year, Coach Chambers hosts and participates in various events to support the cause including a Brew Expo, a CVC 5K, a golf tournament, and Bike for Life to name a few. In 2012, the Penn State chapter raised over $200,000 for the fourth year in a row.
