2017-18 Big Ten Men's Basketball Conference Schedule

UPDATE: 8:56 p.m. ET

A revision to the Big Ten Conference schedule released earlier today changes Penn State’s home game with Northwestern from Saturday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 5. The article content below has been updated to reflect those changes.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Opening Big Ten Conference play on the road in 2017-18, the Penn State men's basketball team will travel to Iowa Saturday, Dec. 2 for the first of two Big Ten games during the opening weekend of conference play, the Big Ten announced today.

The Nittany Lions then return home to the Bryce Jordan Center for a Monday, Dec. 4 tilt with Wisconsin before resuming nonconference play the remainder of the month.

With today's announcement, dates are set for the entire 2017-18 Penn State men's basketball season.

During the 2017-18 season, all Big Ten institutions will play two conference games in early December to accommodate a compressed, nine-week period of games leading up to the Big Ten Tournament, being played in Madison Square Garden for the first time from Feb. 28-March 4.

The 26th season of Big Ten basketball for Penn State features four home games in January and February in addition to the Dec. 4 contest against the Badgers. The Nittany Lions will have four weekend home Big Ten games and five Big Ten squads that played in the NCAA Tournament last season will travel to Happy Valley.

Penn State begins the 2018 portion of the Big Ten schedule on the road with a Tuesday, Jan. 2 game at Maryland. The Nittany Lions welcome Northwestern on Friday, Jan. 5, the first of four appearances in the BJC in January. Games at home the following Friday, Jan. 12 vs. Nebraska and Monday, Jan. 15 vs. Minnesota bookend the weekend's slate of Penn State athletic events.

The only back-to-back Big Ten away games on the Nittany Lions' 2017-18 schedule put Penn State in the Chicagoland area on Saturday, Jan. 20, and Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday, Jan. 25. Penn State and Northwestern will play at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., where the Wildcats will play their home games this season.

Penn State then returns home for a Saturday, Jan. 27 contest against Rutgers. The Wednesday, Jan. 31, game at Michigan State is the lone meeting between the Nittany Lions and Spartans this year.

February features four more marquee matchups at the Bryce Jordan Center with Iowa's Saturday, Feb. 3 visit opening the month. A mid-week matchup with Maryland on Wednesday, Feb. 7, second meeting with double-play opponent Ohio State Thursday, Feb. 15, and home finale against Michigan Wednesday, Feb. 21 highlight the Nittany Lions' home games in February. The game against the Buckeyes in the BJC lands between road games to Illinois, Sunday, Feb. 11 and Purdue on Sunday, Feb. 18.

The final game of the Big Ten regular season sends the Nittany Lions to Nebraska on Sunday, Feb. 25 prior to the start of the Big Ten Tournament at Madison Square Garden.

Game times, broadcast information and promotions for 2017-18 will be announced at a later date.
