UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Boys and girls enrolled in grade 6 or younger are invited to participate in the inaugural Youth Basketball Day Clinic, in conjunction with the Saturday, Sept. 2 Youth Sports Day with Penn State football. Introducing fundamentals, skills and the concepts of basketball, the hour-long clinic will feature appearances by and guidance from Penn State basketball coaches Patrick Chambers and Coquese Washington.
Advance registration is required for the Youth Basketball Day Clinic and participation is limited to the first 150 children signed up. The clinic, held in Bryce Jordan Center Basketball Practice Facility, includes fun drills to promote teamwork and a healthy lifestyle. Check-in opens at 8 a.m. with activities beginning at 9 a.m. The $50 registration fee includes a ticket to the football game versus Akron, a ticket voucher for an upcoming nonconference basketball contest and a Penn State basketball mesh jersey.
Instruction and inspiration from Penn State basketball coaching staffs will highlight the clinic itinerary. The Youth Basketball Day Clinic, for boys and girls of any skill level, provides a positive environment to learn about the game.
To guarantee a Penn State mesh basketball jersey for clinic participants, registrations must be made by Friday, Aug. 4. To register and/or to purchase $20 parking passes for the day's events, call 1-800-NITTANY by Friday, August 18.
