Eleven Nittany Lion Basketball players Earn 3.0 GPA Or Above; Three On Dean's List After Spring Semester

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; July 10, 2006 - The Penn State men's basketball team had 11 players earn a 3.0 grade-point average or above following the 2006 spring semester and three players earned recognition on the Dean's List.

Junior David Jackson, sophomore Geary Claxton and freshman Jamelle Cornley, all starters during the 2005-06 campaign, earned above a 3.0 GPA in the spring as did key reserves Mike Walker and Milos Bogetic. Sophomores Brandon Hassell and Danny Morrissey and freshmen Will Leiner, Nikola Obradovic, Clay Scovill and Joonas Suotamo also earned above a 3.0 in the classroom in the spring.

Bogetic, Leiner and Morrissey all earned Dean's List recognition for the spring compiling above a 3.5 GPA.

Jackson and Walker were both named to the Academic All-Big Ten team for the winter earlier this year. It was the first year both were eligible for selection. Penn State's 44 Academic All-Big Ten selections in the winter tied for first among all Big Ten schools. Penn State's 243 selections for the year were the Nittany Lions' third highest total over the past 12 years. Penn State leads all Big Ten institutions with 2,553 academic all-conference honorees over that span.
