Academic Advisor Sandy Meyer Elected To Top Post in N4A
State College, Pa. - July 2, 2004 - Sandy Meyer, an advisor in Penn State's Morgan Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes, has been elected President-Elect of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A). Meyer, who has been at Penn State since 1987, will serve as President-Elect for one year and then President for the final two. The N4A is the only national organization recognized by the country's academic advisors. A 1966 Penn State graduate, Meyer began her professional career as an English teacher in the State College School District in 1966. In 1980, she began her career at Penn State as a lecturer in the English department. Advancing to a coordinator in the English department in 1984, Meyer was named Assistant Director and Freshman Academic Coordinator/Academic Counselor for the Academic Support Center in 1987. Since 1997, she has also been an English instructor in continuing and distance education. Meyer has served as the academic advisor for the Nittany Lion basketball team as well as field hockey, women's swimming and wrestling. Part of her duties with the basketball squad includes traveling with the team during the season, assisting with all aspects of the student-athletes academic life.
